Your Challenge Mindset

A challenge under any other circumstance is challenging, let alone one during a global pandemic! In order to finish 20 classes in 30 days, you have to put in the work in and OUT of the Red Room.

Chief Instructor and Chicago Founding Instructor, Kate Lemere, shares her three tips for achieving a challenge mindset.

  • A Challenge Mindset is a Growth Mindset

A growth mindset is one with a passion for learning and personal development, as well as self-confidence and resiliency in the face of adversity. It’s one that I work on adopting and cultivating every day. Things will go wrong, workouts will be missed, and life will get in the way, and instead of letting one misstep derail your entire experience, it’s crucial to pivot and keep going. Some weeks will be better than others, so learn from the highs and the lows alike so you can continually better yourself, instead of wallowing in guilt, shame, or self-criticism. When you do, you create a really healthy relationship with yourself rooted in acceptance and love, and it makes whatever you’re doing that much better.

  • Pick and Choose What You Spend Your Energy On

20 classes in 30 days may seem easy on paper but it’s HARD to workout so diligently. It can be draining emotionally and physically so it’s important to understand what you’re willing to give energy to and what you can let slide. That may be anything from letting some laundry pile up to setting boundaries with colleagues, family, or friends, or staying in so you can prioritize your sleep, recovery, and self-care.

  • Take it ONE day at a time and CELEBRATE the wins as you go

Don’t wait until the end to celebrate! Find gratitude in each passing day. Every workout you complete gets you closer to where you want to be, so relish in your hard work. If you’re like me, you wait until the “outcome” to be happy, but by doing so, you unintentionally rob yourself of so much joy. Give yourself a well-earned pat on the back each time you take a peek at your tracker card or finish the final 30-second push in your workout. It feels SO good and keeps an internal sense of motivation and accomplishment.
